Neighborhood data. ID field that can be translated into the name of the neighborhood the business is located in.
neighborhood_code represents geographic neighborhoods as defined by Maponics®. This information is derived from real estate agents, city websites, newspapers, maps, residents, and other sources, to establish boundaries. GIS technology is then utilized to tie the geographies together and ensure data integrity.
All the neighborhood data consists of a six byte numeric ID code with an associated neighborhood name. The data represents neighborhoods and not subdivisions (with legally recognized boundaries). These neighborhoods exist in the mind’s eye and are subject to individual interpretation with a bias towards the real estate professional.
For instance, the Regency neighborhood in Omaha, NE is made up of several subdivisions with names like: Regency 4th Add, Bel Air 2nd Add Extension, Regency 1st Add Rep 1, Regency Lake Addition, and Regency Office Park Addition. This data combines all of these into a neighborhood called “Regency Homes”. This does not mean that the neighborhood boundary aligns with the sum of all the subdivisions boundaries in that neighborhood.
